Our facility was added to the west palm beach register of historic places in 1998.

The contest is open to all wpbfc members age 10 yrs. For the past 26 years they have sponsored a kids fishing day for the past 26 years to introduce at risk children to fishing by teaching them the sport giving them a rod and a prize. The silver sailfish derby established by the west palm beach fishing club in january 1935 is the oldest running sailfish tournament in the world. Some even go so far as to say that the wpbfc is the most admired institution of its kind. At the fishing club located at 201 fifth street in downtown west palm beach on the corner of north flagler drive and 5th street. The gate opens at 7 a m. They provide scholarships at local schools and encourage marine biology students.

We meet the first tuesday every month at the vfw in palm coast and have a different speaker topic each month. The meetings begin with a quick tips speaker at 7 00 pm with the business meeting and guest speaker starting at 7 30 pm. The wpbfc annual fishing contest is based upon the weight of individual fish. The west palm beach fishing club is very involved with the community youth.
